Helping the Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina Help and Donations!

As many in the United States, the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina has really caught us off guard.  We immediately felt that we wanted to do something to help, so Beth started researching how we could help.  She did her footwork and contacted several agencies in Houston, Texas (where a large amount of the victims have been shipped to) and here is what they told her.

For Monetary Donations contact:

The American Red Cross – Houston Chapter (713) 526-8300

For donations of clothing, blankets and such ship them directly to the Astrodome:

Astrodome

8400 Kirby Drive

Houston, Texas  77054

For donations of food, personal care, laundry care and vitamins ship them to:

Houston Food Bank

3811 Eastex Freeway

Houston, Texas  77026

VERY IMPORTANT:  Make a note on all items shipped that they are being donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina!

In addition to doing the footwork we have set up a contest for my Watkins dowline that if they will help the Hurricane Katrina Victims we will reward them with prizes (we do a monthly contest for our dowline to help keep them motivated).

We personally are sending over Watkins products to the food bank in Houston.  And we will be donating my profits from Internet Sales for the entire month of September!  Yep so if you place an order on our Watkins retail site (http://www.watkinsonline.com/bethvigil) the profits of that sale (19% of the subtotal) will be sent off to the American Red Cross and earmarked for the Hurricane Katrina Victims.

May God Bless you all and keep you and your families safe.

Watkins Compensation Plan

Watkins - The Compensation Plan (How you Get Paid)
As you begin your Watkins Business, you will soon realize that Watkins' generous compensation plan will help you achieve the goals you have established for your new business. There are two different ways to make money with Watkins. Your Watkins Sponsor and/or Upline Manager can help you develop a solid business plan that incorporates both of these methods, depending on what your income goals are.

Product Marketing
The first way you can earn money is by directly marketing the products yourself. As your order dollar volume grows, your income percentage increases. As you advance with the company, your percentage profits can increase up to 61%.

There are many different ways to market the Watkins products and how you do this is entirely up to you. You can simply purchase Watkins products for your own family's use and save money.

Or, if you desire, you can market the products through catalog sharing, home shows, trade shows and fairs, fundraising, or through mail order. Of course, it is your business and what you choose to do is entirely up to you. There are no quotas with Watkins so you can choose to do as little or as much as you desire.

For more information on how you too can be earning your fortune, working part-time, you can request your FREE, NO-PRESSURE e-book at http://www.highdesertdelights.com.

WIBC - Awards Dinner!

Friday night was the 2005 Watkins International Awards Banquet.  Rob and I knew we were getting an award but we had no idea which award it was.   The way the awards are calculated are that you are running in the category where you started the last year out as, and the year is calculated from June 1st through May 31st of the following year.  So this year we were running in the Consultant category vs. the Manager category.  The last standings I had seen were at the end of April.  At that point we were placing 11th place in the Consultant category.  Tens of thousands of Associates (aka Consultants) were in the running in this category.

So on awards night, Megan, Rob and I got all dolled up:

Megan was staring to fall asleep at the dinner table, and we so wanted her to walk the stage with us, so I skipped eating the fabulous food they served, and started walking with her to keep her awake.  They started the awards ceremony with the Consultant Category.  The first award went to the 15th Place Consultant.  When I heard they were counting down from 15 I realized why we were getting an award.  They went through 15, 14, 13, 12, 11.....and our name was never called.  So I figured, okay we are 10th Place.  NOPE.... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4....at this point I was telling Rob that there must be some mistake, and that we would not be crossing the stage after all, and might as well sit down.  We were getting ready to head to our seats, when all the sudden we hear.... "And our 3rd Place Consultants of the year, Rob and Beth Vigil!"  I went numb.  Rob had to help push me up towards the stage, I was in total shock.    We walked the stage with Megan and received our award.

I had no idea that we would be 3rd Place, but when I look back on my team, I see that I should have not been shocked at all.  Our team has ROCKED and continues to rock.  They are so awesome and such an inspiration to us personally each and every day.  We look forward to seeing several of our team members cross the stage at WIBC 2006...I know that many of them definitely will!

The Summit Group, the division of Watkins we are honored to be a part of, founded by Steve & Ginny Bretzke, was a dominating factor at the 2005 Watkins International Awards.  Summit Group Associates took 57% of the awards given that night.  And I believe whole heartedly that it is in great deal due to the fabulous support and training we receive through our Summit Group leaders.

Thursday - WIBC

Mom, Megan and I woke up at the CRACK Thursday morning to be able to get in line for the Premium & Clearance Sale.  We were lucky enough to be the 2nd person to get our order in so I believe we will get everything that we wanted, including mom's bath salts.  We are both so bummed that the bath salts have been discontinued. The sale started at 7:30, and there were plenty of others of eager shoppers in line with us.

Summit Group training started at 9:00 a.m.  The training we got from our Summit Group meetings was something that you can't get anywhere else.  The countless hours put in by Steve, Ginny, Jan, Randy and Jerry, are beyond appreciated, they really have made the difference in how our business has been successful.

We had our first Watkins training on Thursday as well.  All Executives and New & Advancing Managers (including ME  ) crossed the staged.  It was such a rush!!!  Then we settled into our seats to hear from Mark Jacobs, Watkins President and from Irwin Jacobs, Watkins Chairman.  Irwin told us about meeting with Dr. Crawford, the FDA Director.  He said that Dr. Crawford had told him that he grew up on Watkins; he quoted him as saying "I remember my time with Watkins as one of the best times in my life.  I call them my Watkins years.  Watkins products are the BEST Products in the World."  Irwin then went on to say that a couple days later he got a call from him and what he had to say then was incredible.  Dr. Crawford went back to his office and pulled the Watkins file and here is what he found:  1)  Watkins is one of the  very very very few companies that has never had a mandated recall on any of their products.  2)  Watkins’s, FDA License number is #99!!  That is how long they have been around and how long they have been turning out QUALITY products!!  We also were proud to learn that the 2004/2005 fiscal year was the BEST year they have had in 5 years!  We just keep getting better.

Next we heard from Beth Formiller, Watkins Vice President of Field Sales.  She had so much valuable information to share with us.  She told us about Miss Gladys (her grandmother).  Miss Gladys was a go getter!!  Here are some of the pearls of wisdom that Miss Gladys left for Beth to pass on to generations to come about how to be successful:

  • See it & feel it!
  • Work Hard
  • Keep your nose clean (show integrity)
  • Have a sense of humor
  • Be GENEROUS; with yourself and with others.
  • You gotta give the credit; to your team and your suppliers
  • Always send a Thank You note!

We then heard from our own Summit Group Executives!  Mike & Annie Koenig were first to share with us.  They said to envision our "Someday dream, and then reminded us that is what Watkins is about – our “Someday”!

Our very own Jerry Fochtmann inspired us next.  He read to us from the USA Today about all the companies that are falling apart, the employees who are losing their pension plans.  How their worlds are falling apart, and how they are going to be struggling to make ends meet.  He reminded us that now is the time to take action and now is the time to show others that this is a fabulous opportunity.  Someone we know has or will be without a job in the very near future, and now is the time to plan ahead.  Remember, it wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.

They then announced the Manager Sponsoring Competition results and presented the awards.  The team that I was on (The Incredibles) placed 5th in the competition, and myself and my team secured 2nd place w/in The Incredibles group for total downline sponsoring.

We then got to get a peak into the 2005 Performance Reward Program, and what is available for us to earn this year.  And again I stood for recognition for high Fast Start Points and for being on track to be in the Bahamas next year!!!  Man all this recognition can sure get you spurred on to make even more success for your business.

The afternoon ended off with valuable information into Good Tastings Events and what they can do for our business.  I am looking forward to doing some Good Tastings Events myself this Summer and Fall.   And we got a preview into the new FABULOUS Watkins Hard Cover Cookbook titled Watkins Vanilla Classic Recipes.  It is a full color 128 page book, with 88 recipes ranging from basic to fancy.  The book will be sold in Barnes and Nobles bookstores as well as other bookstores, and on the Watkins website.  It will retail for $10.99.   It will be available for purchase starting on October 15, 2005.

The evening was filled with Summit Group training, and those teachings are available through the Summit Group website for those Watkins Associates, who are signed up through the Summit Group.  If you would like more information about becoming a Watkins Associate through the summit group you can go to http://www.highdesertdelights.biz.

Wednesday - WIBC

Training with the Summit Group started at 2 p.m on Wednesday.  It was so awesome to actually meet Steve & Ginny Bretzke, Jerry Fochtmann and Jan & Randy Robinson in person, after talking to them for so long.  It was also so need to meet other fellow TSG'ers.  We're such a varied but fun bunch of Watkins Associates.

Megan slept through most of the meetings and let mommy concentrate and suck up all the knowledge that was being shared.  We had a introduction circle where we all went around and said our names, where we were from and what our favorite Watkins Product was.  And although most would have thought I would say Watkins Meat Magic, but they would be wrong.  My favorite product will always be the Watkins Hazelnut Extract, because I built my business from that product.

In the evening we gathered with the Summit Group for a pizza party and for a "get to know everyone" game, where we had to guess fun facts about each other.  And I will never let Steve live down the fact, that on one our fun facts, that Steve put our name right there on the sheet, so it wasn't hard to guess who he was talking about.  It was the fact about Rob and I having the same birthday that is also our wedding anniversary (9/23) and that I had moved 28 times.  The other fun fact about us, I received constant razzing about, but still stand proud and firm that Rob and I are DIE HARD Dallas Cowboy Fans!!

After finishing up the pizza party, a bunch of us went and met in the bar at Holiday Inn and enjoyed each other's company (I limited myself to one glass of Shiraz, to ensure there wouldn't be any dancing on table tops with lamp shades...hahahaha).

I can't wait to share with my team all the wonderful knowledge that we are receiving.  I LOVE Watkins, I LOVE The Summit Group and I LOVE WIBC!!  I can't wait to have my whole team here with me next year!!  And I look forward to seeing members of my team cross the stage and receive many many rewards in the years to come!!

I'll update tonight with Thursday's chain of events.

Survived Tuesdays Travels

We survived through Tuesday's traveling. Neither mom nor I slept at all Monday night due to the 2 am wake up call to be out the door at 3:45. Our plane departed Ontario, CA on time and we were finally on our way to WIBC (Watkins International Business Conference). Megan slept the entire flight (much to my surprise) and we arrived in Denver, CO about 9:10 a.m (where we lost our first hour due to time changes). Since we were flying with my mom, we had the luxury of staying in the United Red Carpet Lounge. How nice to be able to sit down and really relax on a layover. Megan loved it, and was so quiet and respectful of the ambiance that I was even shocked. (Don't get me wrong, she is a little sweetie pie, but her latest thing is doing top of her lung performances wherever we are.....just singing and dancing around.) She loved standing by the window with grandma and seeing all the neat planes. From there we had our final flight of day to Madison, WI. The flight was uneventful, and Megan slept the entire way again. (Mental note to self, keep the child up all night before a flight so she will sleep...hahaha just kidding.) We arrived in Madison at about 3:30 where we lost our 2nd hour due to time changes. The Madison airport was so nice and so much more tranquil than LAX or even Ontario, CA airport. We went right over to the Avis desk to get our rental, and the young guys there were so polite and helpful. They pulled the van around and had it cooling off for us and put the back seats down to accomodate the huge suitcases that both mom and I brought. They even helped us retrieve those suitcases and loaded them in the van for us. Such awesome customer service! So then we stepped outside......WHAMMO!!! Welcome to the heat and humidity. Now don't get me wrong, I am use to heat, we live in Ridgecrest, it is hot there......but this humidity, OH MY GOSH! I thought I was gonna wilt away. I forget what humidity is like, and I was not relishing in the reminder. The drive to La Crosse, was beautiful. I haven't seen so much green grass in forever, and to actually see land that is not overtaken with buildings..AWESOME! We stopped at a quaint little German restaurant on our way (picture to follow soon of the rock formations there). And then headed back on the road to La Crosse. We arrived in La Crosse about 8 pm and the staff at the Holiday Inn was so wonderful, and got us to our room quickly. Megan settled right in and was ready to play. So needless to say our night ended at about 1 a.m. (11 pm California time). Well I'll post more about Wednesday later this morning.....we are off to the Clearance sale here in a few. (They better watch out, mom, Megan and I are EXPERT Shoppes and we leave many casualties in our path when we shop with a mission .... and our mission, to find the last of the Watkins Bath Salts!! LOL)
